In honor of Family Day we are raising a glass to four of our winery partners that have made winemaking a family affair. From Napa to Red Mountain in Washington, these wineries have created a truly delicious tradition, generation after generation.
Meet the Barra Family from BARRA of Mendocino
Charlie Barra was born in Mendocino County in 1926 to Italian immigrants, who brought with them their love of winemaking to their new home in California. Charlie continued the family tradition of winemaking, starting at the young age of 10 and in 1954 purchased Redwood Valley Vineyards, the ranch that is now home to over 175 acres of organically grown vines. Charlie is now joined by his wife Martha, son Shawn and daughter Shelley.

Raise a glass: BARRA of Mendocino Petite Sirah
The signature varietal that launched the Barra of Mendocino brand has only gotten better with age. Now in its 18th vintage, this wine is made from a vineyard high above Lake Mendocino, a dry, exposed location where the vines struggle, but produce deep, rich, intensely flavored wine.
Meet the Hedges Family from Hedges Family Estate
Tom Hedges and Anne-Marie Liegeois founded their Washington winery in 1987, with the release of their Cabernet-Merlot blend. While Tom and Anne-Marie are still involved in the winery, for over a decade it has been a family affair with Christopher as General Manager and Sarah as head winemaker. Hedges is still known for their excellent blends today.

Raise a glass: Hedges Red Mountain Red Blend
This is the perfect savory red blend, with deep, rich flavor. Hedges advises patience to gain the full effect of the wine, but we think it's good if you just save it for your Sunday home-cooked meal of pasta and meatballs.
Meet the MacDonnell Family from Round Pond Estate
In the early 1980s Bob and Jan MacDonnell, bought the first parcel of land in the Napa Valley of what would one day become Round Pond Estate. While the family started as growers, they eventually began to bottle and sell their estate-grown wines. Now onto the 2nd generation, their children, Ryan and Miles MacDonnell, continue their vision and craftsmanship.

Raise a glass: Round Pond Kith & Kin Cabernet Sauvignon
The Kith & Kin Cabernet is focused on the purity of fruit, with earthy undertones. You could say it has it all, just like the gorgeous Round Pond Estate, which focuses on expressive wines, gourmet foods, and farm-to-table experiences.
Meet the Schug Family from Schug Carneros Estate Winery
After working for some of the most respected wineries in Napa, Walter Schug founded Schug Carneros Estate Winery with his wife, Gertrude in 1980. While they have since passed, their three children are carrying on the winery’s operations and legacy.

Raise a glass: Schug Carneros Pinot Noir
With a slow, careful process, Schug has created a perfect Pinot Noir. We think this wine pairs with a vast array of dinner foods. So whether pork or shellfish is on the menu, pour yourself a glass of this smooth drinking Pinot.
