From Napa to Sonoma, Northern California is hallowed ground in American wine culture. It’s also a pretty happening weekend getaway destination, and not just because it’s chock full of legendary vineyards. From the breathtaking scenery and outdoor activities, to the fine dining and shopping—it’s got “let’s pack a bag and book a room” written all over it.  We put together this itinerary for the perfect long weekend in California wine country built around Kuvée’s partner vineyards. Enjoy!

Friday: The Flight Deck & Healdsburg Plaza

The Flight Deck is a unique tasting room and bottle shop located in Sonoma’s lively Healdsburg Plaza. True to its name, it lets you choose from curated flights by varietal and appellation, or create a custom-built flight tailored to your fancy. But don’t spend too much time in-flight that you miss out on Healdsburg’ other treasures.

Be sure to stroll through the bustling downtown and explore its upscale boutiques and artisanal food shops. Shop for a new bag or wallet at Clutch Boutique, or pop by Oakville Grocery to experience the culinary flavors of Sonoma County.

Down-to-earth, comfortable vibes abound at eateries like Chalkboard – which puts a comfort food spin on elegant small plates like pork belly biscuits and buttermilk fried chicken thighs.

Saturday: B.R. Cohn Winery, Glen Ellen & The Great Outdoors

Make your way to Glen Ellen, home of the legendary B.R. Cohn Winery.  Try the family-owned vineyard’s handcrafted varietals alongside dreamy fresh-shucked oysters from nearby Tomales Bay while enjoying some music—and it’s entirely possible you’ll never want to leave.

This area is a beacon for outdoorsy types, so put on your hiking shoes and explore The Sonoma Valley Regional Park, which hosts miles of serene walking trails, and Quarryhill Botanical Gardens—considered one of California’s finest. The nearby Jack London Estate offers even more opportunities to recreate al fresco, or simply picnic with a copy of “The Call of the Wild” if you prefer fictional outdoor adventures to the real thing.

For dinner, make like a native and head to The Fig Café & Winebar—and dine under the fig trees that gave this beloved local eatery its name. Enjoy their home-style California Cuisine and pairings with a wide variety of local and international wines.

Sunday: Napa wine tours from Rutherford to Yountville

Winery tours are always on the menu in Napa, so get ready for a day full of tasting and traveling. (And remember to designate a driver, take an Uber, or hire a driver for the day.)

Start your day at Swanson Vineyards in Rutherford. Their tastings take place by appointment in their famous Sip Shoppe, or in the intimate dinner party environment of The Salon, where high ceilings and elegant decorations mirror the ornate salons of eighteenth century France. (Now would be a good time to take a very fancy selfie.)

Only seven minutes down St. Helena highway in Yountville is Cosentino Winery. Order “THE Flight” off their menu to enjoy a bevy of wines—many of your Kuvée favorites—on their stunning patio. The outdoor setting is something not found at many other tasting rooms in California and provides the perfect environment for the light, airy flavors of Cosentino’s best wines.

Finally, head three minutes down St. Helena Highway to Girard Winery, also in Yountville. If you are a big fan of Cabernet Sauvignon, Girard offers a Cab-specific tasting that provides limited releases from coveted appellations. If Cab isn’t the varietal you’re in the mood for, there are plenty of seats in the rustic tasting room to try other Girard offerings and learn about how they’re made from grape to glass.

For dinner, Yountville provides a plethora of options. In the mood for a French bistro? Try Bouchon, which offers high-end French fair with an excellent wine menu. Want to try New American tonight? Lucy Restaurant & Bar is a restaurant that prides itself on local ingredients and a vast wine list. Or, settle in at family-friendly Ad Hoc where more comfort is the ruling principle.

Monday: Explore Calistoga with Clos Pegase

Take your last day in wine country nice and easy. Sleep in and enjoy a full spa experience at Calistoga’s Mount View Hotel & Spa before the day’s winery events. Then, when you’re fully blissed-out, find your way to nearby Clos Pegase Winery. The beautiful estate hosts two daily tastings in their one-of-a-kind tasting room, set within a series of caverns.

After your tasting, indulge in a bon voyage meal at All Seasons, which, as its name suggests, offers seasonal California-inspired fare and a deep wine list. Feast on duck with savory fruit sauces or a classic rib-eye steak and smashed potatoes—and celebrate your Napa tour de force with gusto.
